CLOS DE VOUGEOT GRAND CRU 2012 MOILLARD GRIVOT
Colour: Deep red colour.
Nose: The nose opens with fruity notes of blackcurrant and raspberry, then the aromatic intensity increases with more complex notes of spice, wax, leather and coffee.
Palate: The palate is equally complex, with incredible length, and tannins that support and prolong the finish admirably.
Recommendations: To be served with strong dishes: grilled, roasted or sauced red meat and game, and roasted or glazed poultry. Strongly flavoured cheeses such as Livarot, Munster, Maroilles, Epoisses, Langres, Ami du Chambertin, Soumaintrain...
Unquestionably among the greatest wines of Burgundy, this wine will reach its peak in the 2025s.

Geographical situation: Located in Vougeot in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru was founded around 1110 by the Abbey of Cîteaux. It covers 50.59 hectares in one piece and is still surrounded by the same walls that surrounded it five centuries ago. Above the Clos, the Grands Crus Musigny and Grands-Échezeaux occupy the hillside.
Vinification: Hand-picked. Traditional vinification in thermo-regulated vats. Cold pre-fermentation maceration, temperature control, long vatting period during which punching down and pumping over are carried out in an optimal way. Post-fermentation maceration at 30°C for 5 days.
Aged in oak barrels for 20 months, 70% of which are new.
Soil: A wide variety of soils. At around 255 metres altitude, shallow soil with a grainy structure and abundant gravel on the Bajocian limestone slab. Around 250 m, shallow brown soil on limestone pebbles, more clayey. Around 240 m, deeper brown soil on a marly level rich in clay and fine silt.
